Our Discovery Museum invites you into another world.

Visitors to our Discovery Museum
find answers to their questions in many ways —
sometimes by looking into boxes,
sometimes by fitting picture puzzles together,
or by sliding doors, by lifting lids, by feeling,
by listening to different answers,
or by pushing buttons which light up the right answers.

Here are the 20 questions most asked about the Amish and Mennonites, around which our Discovery Museum is designed. Questions are answered from both an Old Order point-of-view and a modern point-of-view.

1. Are they growing or dying in number?

2. Must you be born into it?

3. Are they Christian groups?

4. What is the difference between the Amish
        and the Mennonites?

5. Is there any advantage to driving a buggy
        instead of a car?

6. Should what one believes distinguish how one looks?

7. Is it true that they don’t go to war?

8. Is it true that they’re against education?

9. Do they consider energy sources a religious matter?

10. Do they practice mutual aid?

11. What are their problems and dilemmas?

12. Why are migration and martyrdom part
        of their identity?

13. What are their weddings and funerals like?

14. Don’t they believe in having fun?

15. Why are they such good farmers?

16. Aren’t they a bit naive and backward?

17. What is the role of women?

18. How many of them are there?

19. Does anyone ever join? Does anyone ever leave?
          Does anyone ever stay?

20. What holds them together?

Our Discovery Museum concludes with a short sound-and-light presentation in our mini-theater. Many tell us they are deeply moved by this finale. We hope you enjoy it too.

Our “20 Questions” Discovery Museum includes a variety of sound units, stunning photography, dozens of hands-on learning aids, music, poetry, and even humor. Two features which also receive numerous compliments from visitors are “On the Lighter Side” and “Problems We Haven't Solved.”
